The architectural design is the result of a collaboration with EHL&KOUMAR Architects. The concept draws inspiration from the local, traditional, enclosed form of agricultural courtyards. The existing Service House dominates the site, and in its background we propose a new municipal open courtyard. The courtyard is defined by the existing building as well as the newly constructed fire station and service-house facilities.
The municipal courtyard forms a calm zone with trees, from which all three municipal buildings are accessed; it also provides visitor parking and becomes a natural meeting place. The unified appearance and shaping of the buildings reference the traditional construction of rural farm structures. Masonry pillars define the usable area and support the trussed structure of the hipped roof. The spaces between the pillars are filled with a timber lattice that ensures adequate ventilation and daylight, and in exposed areas also functions as a sunshade.
Heated spaces are insulated from the inside using a layered sandwich structure—150 mm thick for tempered rooms and 200 mm for fully heated rooms. The consistent colour scheme of the buildings, in both overall composition and detailing, underscores their civic importance and communal function.
