project description:
The construction of the bell tower is one of the small-scale municipal furniture projects. In the centre of the Štěrboholy district of Prague, the existing non-functioning water pump was to be replaced with a new symbol—one that would suitably complement the park space of the former village square and restore a touch of rural character to the location.
An architectural competition was announced at the initiative of the district council, and the final design of the bell tower was selected from more than ten proposals. The study then progressed into planning and building-permit documentation, and the project was subsequently carried out.
The ceremonially inaugurated bell tower now fits naturally into the village-like character of Štěrboholy, and its ringing has become an inseparable part of the place.
